DiceWorld: Science and Life in a Random Universe by Brian Clegg

Fabulous book. This was an enlightening book from start to finish. The
author seamlessly works in the hard facts of science into real life
scenarios. Here entropy is noted as a fact of life (and science) instead
of merely the by-product of chance. This book tackles the lotto, wisdom
of crowds, Maxwell’s Demon, and even works in Shrodinger’s Cat. After
decades of Computer Science and Advanced Mathematics, I still found a lot
more of value in this single book than I have many much more formal (and
boring) textbooks. I highly recommend this book to anyone that has any
interest in learning how the universe we live in works, for better and
worse, and how i:t’s likely to work in the future as we unwrap the secrets
of quantum mechanics.
